After a while entering into my new house, I have done my setup for LCD in the living hall. We already subscribe Astro and Screamyx. Thus, we have a satellite TV and broadband 24, 7. I glad that I can just simply plug in my HDD and play directly full HD movies at my TV. However, I don't have yet any Blue Ray player.
That is where the idea of building a new PC came across my mind. Rather than spending RM1200 for a blue ray player, I suggest you guys out there make a new PC where you could have more than just a blue ray function for a cost of below RM1000! Is it sounds interesting? I tell you how.
These are the components that you need in order to build a new PC. From now onwards, I will use the term HTPC. Why? Because this PC will serve you mainly for viewing movies, surfing and check emails. Other than that, let say for playing high end games, you need a high performance graphic cards which is totally not in my objective. It comes with a high cost too!
The HTPC which I have plan will have components such as:-
- Processor - Intel Core i3 LG1155 -RM353
- Mobo - Asus P8H61-M EVO -RM300
- RAM - Kingston DDR3 1333MHz 4G - RM65
- HD - Western Digital 500G - RM250
- BDROM - LiteOn Blue Ray 4x ROM - RM199
- Casing - Silverstone LC19 -RM600/+
Actually, to sum up all the component as above, definitely you will get above 1k. The ones which added up to the cost is the casing. I haven't checked the price but so far based on reviews I read online Silverstone LC19 is around USD200 which roughly will be around MYR600. The motherboard offer extra output which is the HDMI x1. This is very crucial for Full HD requirements. I did my survey and found out that all mobos above 300 usually comes with this port. That is why I put RM300 as a benchmark price for this kind of mobos.
What about the graphic card?
For Intel Core i3 processor and above, the GPU processor already integrated with Intel HD Graphic processor. Thus no specific graphic peripherals required. Read more here about Intel HD Graphics.
